Accessibility statement

We want everyone to be able to read this website, get a quote and contact us, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use. This statement explains what we aim for, what you can do if something does not work for you, and how to reach us by other routes.

Accessibility

This statement applies to the Skyline Swindon Roofing website. It covers the pages that describe our roofing services, the guides and answers, the pages for the places we cover around Swindon, and the enquiry form.

We aim to make the site work well for people with visual, hearing, motor and cognitive needs. Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines at level AA, which is the widely used standard for accessible websites. We build and check pages against that target, and we keep improving them as we find things to fix.

No website is perfect, and accessibility is not a box ticked once. If you meet a barrier, we want to know, and we will either fix it or find another way to give you what you need.

What we have done to make the site easier to use

Some of the choices we have made are visible, and others work quietly in the background. They include the following:

  • Text colours are chosen to stand out clearly against their backgrounds, so that body copy, headings and links can be read comfortably.
  • Pages have a logical heading order, with one main heading and sub-headings beneath it, so that a screen reader can list and jump between sections.
  • Links are written to make sense on their own, and they are underlined or otherwise clearly marked, so that colour is not the only signal.
  • The enquiry form uses visible labels for each field, so that you know what is being asked even when you move quickly or use a screen reader.
  • The whole site can be used with a keyboard, with a visible outline showing where you are on the page.
  • Pages adapt to different screen sizes, and text can be enlarged in the browser without losing content.

Where a page holds a table, it has proper column and row headings, so that the figures in it are read out with the right context.

Using the site with your own settings and tools

You can change how a page looks to suit you, and the site is built to respond. Most browsers let you enlarge text or zoom the whole page, and the layout reflows rather than forcing you to scroll sideways. Your browser or device may also let you choose a high-contrast or dark colour scheme, or reduce animation if movement bothers you, and the site follows those preferences where it can.

Screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver and TalkBack can read the pages, move by heading and list the links on a page. Voice control software can be used to activate links and form fields by their visible names, which is one reason we keep labels and link text plain.

If you use a magnifier or a large display, the page content stays within a readable column and the text stays sharp when enlarged. If you rely on a switch device or the keyboard alone, the order in which you move through the page follows the order in which it reads.

Other ways to reach us

You never need the website to get a quote or ask a question. Here are the routes that are open to you:

  • Ring us on 01793 626096 and talk it through.
  • Send a message on WhatsApp, which suits people who prefer to type, or who find a phone call difficult.
  • Use the enquiry form on any page, or visit the contact page for the details in one place.
  • Ask for the information in a different format, for example a plain-text version of a page, a larger print copy of your written quote, or the survey photographs sent by email or message.

If you have difficulty hearing or speaking on the phone, tell us and we will agree a way of working that suits you, whether that is messages, email or a written note. If someone else deals with your home affairs, we are happy to speak with them as well, once you have told us you would like that.

Known limits

We think the site works well, but there are places where it may fall short, and it is better to say so than to leave you guessing.

Some of our pages contain photographs. These illustrate roofing work in general and do not show a particular customer's roof. They have text descriptions where the picture carries meaning, and decorative pictures are marked so that assistive tools skip them. If a description is missing or unhelpful, tell us.

Some pages link to outside websites, such as the Planning Portal, GOV.UK or a local council. We do not control those sites or their accessibility, and we cannot fix them. If you have trouble with one, we can help you find the same information by phone, or point you to the relevant team at the council.

Older documents and any file that you send us, such as a survey photograph or a plan, may not be in an accessible format. We will gladly describe or convert anything you need.

Tell us about a problem

If you cannot use part of the site, or if something is hard to read, understand or operate, please tell us. It helps to know the page address, what you were trying to do, the device and browser you were using and any assistive tool involved. You do not need technical language. A short note like I could not reach the submit button using the keyboard is enough.

Ring 01793 626096, message us on WhatsApp or use the enquiry form. We will acknowledge your message, look at the problem and tell you what we can do about it. Where a fix is quick, we make it. Where it takes longer, we tell you so and give you another way to get what you need in the meantime.

If you are not satisfied with how we have responded, our complaints procedure explains how to take the matter further. You can also contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service for independent advice about your rights under the Equality Act 2010.

Keeping this statement up to date

We review the site from time to time, and especially when we add new pages or change how a page works. This statement is updated when something changes that you would want to know about. We also test new content against our accessibility target before it goes live, because it is easier to build a page properly than to repair it later.

This statement was prepared in October 2026. Our privacy policy and cookie policy explain how we handle information on the site, and they are written in the same plain style.

Note: this statement is a plain-English starting point prepared for review by a qualified legal adviser, and it may be updated after that review.
